Amusement Parks in Italy

Kids Europe Newsletter

Sometimes kids have to be kids and an amusement park or water park may be just the ticket. You may also find some more old fashioned parks fascinating and perfect spots for less hyperactive and less expensive amusement.

When going to amusement parks and water parks, do not expect tidy Disneyland clones, but unique cultural expressions of Italy . You may encounter attributes of the culture that include indulgence of all kinds of children's behavior, excitable personalities, scantily clad bodies, and the cultural aversion to forming lines or queues.

Amusement and Water Parks

Fun in the Sun

Although these parks may host tourists, they are targeted to the Italian population. As you will see, their websites and the signs and information in the parks may be all in Italian. Don't let that deter you, the purpose of a roller coaster or water slide is abundantly clear. And, as always, Italians are usually courteous and helpful. Most have studied English in school and, however rusty, will try to help you.

Parks Where You Can Amuse Yourselves

Take a Picnic

Rather than rides, these parks offer sights and opportunities to enjoy romping among nature, fountains, and sculpture.

Here is a note we just received from one of our Excellent Europe clients: One of the many highlights was our visit to Tivoli and Villa Este! We are still talking about it to people. Amazing, beautiful, and a good way to get away from the heat and wild pace of Rome . My one son wants to move to Rome now!

What do Parents Say?

We'd be delighted if you would purchase Kids Europe products that are all designed to help children get the most out of their vacations in Italy . We think we've done a good job of it, but the proof is in the kind words (and cute photos) of our customers:

"We thought the journals were great and used them as the main guide for planning our daily activities. Moving the focus of our trip to seeing the Italian lifestyles and not the museums/tourist sites was something I had not thought of and enjoyed myself as much as seeing the sights, esp since I had been to Italy twice before and did the tourist rat race thing then. We esp. enjoyed the page tracking license plates and gelatto flavors." KJB

A Comfortable Place to Stay in Rome

Janus Apartment Hotel

Families frequently ask me for centrally located apartments in Rome that will accept stays of less than a week. We researched the market and then stayed at the Janus to make sure it would work for our clients. And it does!

It is an Italian version of a suites hotel in the heart of Rome . It offers suites that sleep two or four with two on a sofa bed. By joining a suite and a studio, they can accommodate a family of six. The plusses of these accommodations are many:

  • Will take less than a week, four nights or more
  • Air conditioning
  • Satellite TV
  • Central location for many sights
  • Right across the river from Trastevere
  • Reception desk with genuinely friendly and helpful staff for directions and assistance

We really like these accommodations and the whole little neighborhood. Not as frantic as other areas, it feels like a little village within the bustling city. But it is still right in the center. The suites are pleasantly decorated and comfortable.
